Nothing beats being able to physically hold and admire a piece of handmade craft, or to learn about its history and unique story - before making that decision to buy.
I think that Things British is a great concept as it gives the opportunity for small artists to get retail space in a fantastic location. It allows me to be able to get week to week figures on what lines work and not and it’s great to be able to entirely brand a space. I feel that it has helped me evolve as a designer and my brand is definitely strengthening.
Things British is an excellent way to introduce handmade designs to high street shoppers and a great opportunity for showcasing my products in a prime shopping location without having the high cost of setting up my own shop. As an artist I struggle with the selling and promoting side of the job as it isn’t something I have a lot of knowledge of. The fact that Things British takes care of all that while I concentrate on creating is just perfect.
The best thing about Things British I find is the control we have as sellers – we can choose how our pieces are displayed etc and this is something I have only ever previously experienced at events, fairs & the like. And it is proving invaluable in growing my brand as I am still evolving. Oh and I must mention the shops fantastic location that is second to none and has also offered me a good excuse to make those weekend trips to London.
