Yes! Things British will never restrict you from selling at any other shop or at any other online shopping venue. Sell, sell, sell.

Selling With Things British

Designer makers, whether full-time, part-time or even amateur face problems with the infrastructure of the industry. Trade fairs, craft markets and some retailers give a platform for showcasing and selling, however, these usually come with either a hefty commission, low trade prices, are too infrequent, or take up a lot of personal time.

Rent Space

Our rental contract provides you with a share of an exciting brick-and-mortar retail environment where you are assigned your own choice of dedicated shelf, wall or table space (see below for the prices). We provide the staff to manage the shop and tend to your customers - so you don’t have to be there. You can also list and sell your products on our website free of charge.

Perhaps best of all we take absolutely no commission on anything sold at the shops or online. You set the retail prices and all the nett profits are yours to keep.

wideview

From glass to ceramics, jewellery to paper craft, clothing to toys, artwork to well almost anything handcrafted here in Britain - we showcase and curate your talent in a low-risk professional and supportive retail environment. So if you are looking for an opportunity to showcase new work - test the market, or looking for a more permanent venue to sell your work, then Things British is for you.

British Handcrafted

Your products should be of high retail quality, legally allowed to be sold both in our shop or online, and handcrafted here in Britain. It is ok by us to use materials sourced from outside Britiain if they are not readily available here or if you are a dab-hand at creating amazing assembled products. Things British is about your customers buying your fantastic handcrafted gifts - made by hand here in Britain.

You accepted then rejected me!

To be fair on makers of products similar to yours we ask you to make a booking within a few days of our accepting you. If you choose to delay (which you can) we will need to do another review at the time when you do want to book. This may mean that we cannot accept you due to us already selecting an alternative maker. You are more than welcome to try again later as we like what you do.

Don't stock certain items

We have to take into consideration the nature of our shop enviroment. Some products are heavy, may need a stand (which you may be reluctant to use) or may break if they fall. Some products also need to follow government guidelines which we must also comply with. We may also advise against certain high value items unless you provide a lockable case as part of your space. We care strongly about your products and want to make sure they are safe in our shop, and that our shoppers are also safe.

Start Date Problems

Your booking can start up to 7 days from today. You cannot make a booking for this time next year (for example).

Called the shop - no answer.

Please try calling again later. When it is busy we tend to shoppers first and can't always answer the phone!

I emailed but no reply.

We are getting a huge amount of email and are attending to them in order of priority. Apologies if there is a delay in replying to you. Please send any requests to support[at]thingsbritish.co.uk

Things British is an excellent way to introduce handmade designs to high street shoppers and a great opportunity for showcasing my products in a prime shopping location without having the high cost of setting up my own shop. As an artist I struggle with the selling and promoting side of the job as it isn’t something I have a lot of knowledge of. The fact that Things British takes care of all that while I concentrate on creating is just perfect.

Yasmin of Handmade by Yasmin

The best thing about Things British I find is the control we have as sellers – we can choose how our pieces are displayed etc and this is something I have only ever previously experienced at events, fairs & the like. And it is proving invaluable in growing my brand as I am still evolving. Oh and I must mention the shops fantastic location that is second to none and has also offered me a good excuse to make those weekend trips to London.
